I received this book as an ARC and HOLY SMOKES! I don’t typically read blurbs or anything that will tell me about the book. I like going in blind. And I had no idea that this book would go this way! Poor Cassie having to make the decisions she did about grandpa Earl! This book was suspenseful, twisted and just wow. I absolutely loved it and couldn’t put it down. Highly recommend!

“I don’t know what I was expecting out of this book, but it definitely blew my mind. 🤯 It kept me on my toes. A nosey granddaughter, a grandmother that was as quiet as a mouse who looked the other way and a grandfather with secrets buried. I really enjoyed this psychological thriller/drama. The multi POV was interesting as you got many sides of the story.”

Author, Luna May, creates a story full of suspense and secrets. We follow Cassie who has returned to her family farm and begins to uncover things the land and to the family have kept hush-hush.
I truly enjoyed the story! I wanted to know all the details and uncover all the truths that Cassie was after when she found the journal. I felt immersed as I read the story and wanted to jump in right alongside her. Secrets don’t stay hidden forever! 🤫🤐”

“Luna May does it again with The Farmers Secret. The Farmers Secret is small town USA at its darkest and finest and I’m here for it. When a town has a mystery that turns out to be a family secret makes the reader say I don’t see that coming. And the twist and turns of the uncovering of these secrets makes you start to think what my neighbors may have buried or what secrets are they keeping. The way this book is written in the charter point of views takes the reader on a ride of internal conflict and questioning the mortality of the reader and the characters. If you love the small town life and reading about what’s hidden in some small towns across America I highly recommend The Farmers Secret. This book will leave you wondering and guessing what the neighbor next door or the person sitting next to me at church has hidden they wouldn’t want anyone to know. Who knows are you Earl with a secret or Cassie trying to uncover a secret.”

“This was such an intense and thrilling read. Right from the beginning I was pulled in and didn’t want to put this down. Cassie is the kind of woman that has a nose for things. And when she finds a bracelet in the field, she starts getting curious. Especially when she finds her grandmothers journal that was hidden away for only Cassie to find. This had me obsessed. It was mysterious and suspenseful. I was on the edge of my seat with the twists and turns. This was a seriously awesome story.”

“A psychological thriller that really had me wound up and wondering how this was going to turn out.
Madeline discovers Ethan's infidelity prior to the wedding but marries him anyway. Truthfully, I would have told him where to stick it, but not Madeline, she is patient and insidious and develops an experiment to test him. Rules are in place, but rules are meant to be broken.
A story that can be reread because I went through it so fast, I might have missed some of the more nuanced elements of the experiment.”

First, I would like to thank Luna May and Inside Story for sharing this novella with me.
I was looking forward to a dark romance to give my head a break from thrillers. Instead, I got a story that kept my mind racing—but for all the right reasons.
This spunky little novella had me on my toes from beginning to end, flipping pages as quickly as I could digest the words. What I expected to be a break from suspense turned out to have its own delicious tension, pulling me deeper into the story with every page.
“Roman had spent years convincing himself that he was in control, carefully constructing a beautiful but empty life. Yet beneath that carefully controlled exterior was a man who was desperately trying to find a version of himself that didn't feel like a ghost.
He wasn't stepping into the spaces where a husband should have been as some calculated strategy. He was there because he was starving to be seen. He wasn't creating the silence around him; he was drowning in it. Every message felt like another desperate gasp for air.
And then there was her loneliness—deep, quiet, and the kind that seems to settle into your bones. Roman could hear the ache hidden beneath her careful words, the desperate pride of a woman who had slowly become invisible in her own home.
What struck me most was that Roman wasn't simply paying attention to her to manipulate or impress her. He listened because her words made him feel seen, too. For once, he wasn't performing or pretending to be someone he wasn't. He was reaching into the darkness, hoping she would be there to reach back.
Because sometimes the difference between being looked at and truly being seen is enormous. It can be the difference between merely existing and actually feeling alive.”
This novella gave me exactly the kind of escape I was looking for, just not in the way I expected. It was dark, tense, emotional, and surprisingly absorbing. Sometimes the best stories aren't the ones that let you turn your brain off—they're the ones that make you forget everything else exists while you're reading.
Definitely a quick, gripping read for anyone looking for something dark, emotionally charged, and a little bit different.
